For over ten years, Dr. Barry Glasser has been the Medical Director at the John Brooks Recovery Center in Atlantic City, NJ. He is a dedicated medical professional who has seen thousands of inpatient and outpatient clients in his tenure. When he speaks - you feel those years of experience, his kindness and his dedication to helping so many that suffer from the disease of addiction.
Dr. Glasser leads the detoxification program at John Brooks and his dedication to saving lives does not stop there. He recently worked with the Governor's office to have greater availability for the life saving antidote for heroin overdose - Narcan - and to have it readily available at John Brooks' needle exchange program. Dr. Glasser also advocated for Narcan and Narcan training to be provided to emergency medical technicians, clients, family members, police and firefighters in Atlantic City.
Dr. Glasser has kindly advised many pregnant clients and acted as consultant to regional hospitals to address the epidemic of heroin use and specifically neonatal abstinence syndrome. Dr. Glasser offers his extensive knowledge to colleagues as well as other audiences on a variety of new products to treat addiction. These include, but are not limited to, Suboxone, Zubsolv, Bunavail, Vivitrol, and pharmacogenetic testing.
A well versed individual, Dr. Barry Glasser has worked in many different fields as well as countries around the world and has been medical director over many physicians in his career. His past work in overseeing casino medical units has provided him with ample stories to share on treating addicted celebrities, failed back surgery employees, and individuals with multiple addictions including drugs, alcohol and gambling.
Dr. Glasser is an Advanced Diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management, and a fellow with the American Board of Addiction Medicine. He is ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) certified and board certified in internal medicine. In his private practice, Dr. Glasser offers state-of-the-art acupuncture treatment and complementary and integrative options for patients suffering from the cycle of chronic pain and addiction.
A charming and educated speaker, Dr. Glasser resides in New Jersey with his wife and three children. A caretaker of many kinds, he also shares his home with two dogs and three cats, all rescued from local shelters.
